| RIDAVE's Full Review: British Virgin Islands |
We just returned (10/28/00) from our third trip to this beautiful island. Having been there several times we pretty much knew exactly what and where we wanted to go. Long Bay is probably the best place to stay on Tortola, although it is not cheap. The rooms all offer spectacular views, the food is very good but the service could be better. Don't miss the rest of the island so rent a jeep and visit Cane Garden Bay (another great beach), be sure to go back in the evening to Quito's Gazebo to listen to Quito Rymer sing. Also visit Brewers Bay another quite secluded beach, you may be the only one on this beach. Plan on a day sail on a day that they visit The Baths on Virgin Gorda.. the snorkeling there is great. The day sail will also stop at several other islands. Take a ferry to Jost Van Dyke and then a taxi to White Bay. Spend the day at the Soggy Dollar Bar and the beach there then stop at Foxy's before returning to Tortola. If you have the option, plan your trip to be on Tortola during a full moon and then go to Bombas Shack for his famous Full Moon Party ! Arrive between 10 and 11 and make no plans for the following day !! All in all the BVI is the place to go for a low key vacation no casinos no high rise hotels no fast food joints definitely a couples place..Enjoy !!
