Good Morning,
I've done some research on Bequia...It always amazes me how the trip is more costly than the stay to remote islands. I am doing so much research on where I want to go this autumn all the of the islands are beginning to look the same. If you have any information on Costa Rica and Tahiti...please let me know. I don't know whether to cruise there or just fly. The downfall to cruising is I won't be able to stay at one port for long and for flying...$$$$$$$.
Thank you for the reply...After reading your review...Bequia is #1 on my list.

Hello,
Thank you for your kind assessment of my epinions. I did want to comment about the exclusivity of these islands I describe. I am not in the wealthy 10% either; I can't afford to stay on Mustique -- only to get my childish glimpses at Mick Jagger and play on Macaroni Beach for a short time. But Bequia is dirt cheap. Airfare to the Caribbean used to be dirt cheap also. Unfortunately the new airfares of $900+ from New Orleans has prevented me from a trip lately. :-) Christine

It seems as though Mrs. Richards is well versed in regards to the Caribbean. Looking over her other reviews...she travels very frequently. The places she suggests visiting would lead me to assume she is a traveling "socialite". She gives exquisite details of her experiences that are very helpful indeed, such as the time of year to go, where to stay, where and what to eat. But unfortnately for those that are not included in the world's wealthy 10% it may be difficult getting into exclusive "islands" and catching "glimpses" of Mick Jagger. Mrs. Richards has me quite interested in visiting Bequia and even...New Orleans!...Although, I have never been to Bourbon Street, I really have a reason not to think I've missed something. I too like going to places that are not over-populated, underdeveloped, or deteriorated...again, the summations on the small islands are very helpful.

I SHOULD KNOW! (Reply to this comment)

Well, as I read Christine's review I started to get home sick.... I grew up in Bequia and I now live in New York. She is right about so much things, but she forgot to mention our Easter celebration called the "Regatta", this could also be enjoyed by couples and especially families. It takes place Easter weekend every year, there are boat races, bizarres, sales (whether food, clothing, small sail boats, u name it is there), there is also the playing of calypso music. I think if you really want to enjoy Bequia, that is the time you need to go and visit, trust me I should know!! :-)

Question: New to Bequia (Reply to this comment)
by leoandj
Thank you to Christine Richard. I recently learned about Bequia from an acquaintance in Wellfleet, MA (one favorite place) in a conversation about St. John (another favorite place). I am told Bequia is perfect if I love those others. Does anyone have an opinion?
P.S. St. Thomas is on my list of least favorite places.
Thank you!

New airlines to St. Vincent (Reply to this comment)

You now have a choice to St. Vincent - BWIA and American Eagle both fly there now. You're no longer at the mercy of LIAT. The islanders have 2 acronyms for LIAT: Leave Island Any Time and Luggage In Any Terminal. :-)
