| jeffrrey1970's Full Review: St. John |
If you have ever thought about going to an island that had gorgeous lush forest all around you, and quiet beautiful beaches, then St. John is for you. This is a place where you can lay out on the beach all day and not have to worry about being trampled on by other people, or waking up in the middle of the night because of loud partiers. Of course bring lots of sun tan lotion if you plan on laying out a lot, because it gets very hot.
When you first get to St. John usually you will arrive in Cruz Bay, which is just big enough that you can find some activities for night life. However, it is not so big that it overruns the island. I think Cruz Bay has only about 5,000-10,000 inhabbitants. Cruz Bay is where you would go if you want to take a boat ride to St. Thomas, or the British Virgin Islands.
St. John is also home to Cinnamon Bay National Park. I highly recommend going there. It has everything from historical sights (Annaberg Plantation), to picturesque beaches, and even ancient hyroglypihics (sp?) You can stay on Cinnamon Bay in either tents, or cabins.
However if you require highend treatment, I recommend going to Canael Bay. It is a 4 or 5 star beautiful hotel, with wonderful food.
No matter where you stay, you must go snorkeling. When I went snorkeling in Cinnamon Bay I saw colors in the ocean that I never thought I would see. Eventhough St. John is a small island, there are still plenty of activities to do. For instance, you can go on boating trips aroung the island, obviously you can snorkel, hike, do some dancing at the few clubs that they have, and so on. If you like lots of quiet time do not fret it is NOT a party island. St. John is for anyone, of any age, anytime, and anysize group.
