My friends and I stayed at an incredible hostel in Prague that was recommended by the Hostels of Europe Card(see my review under Travel Discounts). The Clown and Bard is located at Borivojova 102 which is at the top of an enormous hill. This translates to about a 15 minute walk (uphill) from the train station and Central Prague. I would recommend calling ahead to figure out which trolleys stop nearby.
Upon reaching the hostel, we found out that everyone spoke English really well and were able to recommend laundry services, tours, sights ect. We ended up staying in a flat for 6 people. It had its own bathroom, a little kitchenette and a loft. Four people could sleep in beds and the other two slept in the loft on a mattress. The place was really clean and bedding was provided. In addition, we were on the top floor of the building and could look out a little window for an incredible view of Prague. All of this for a mere 350 CK...about $10 American. There were other less expensive rooms as well. Needless to say we were very pleased with the accommodations.
A small restaurant downstairs serves some breakfast and lunch items at various times during the day. The prices were very reasonable and the food very tasty. I would recommend the nachos. It also doubled as a bar, serving the native Budvar and some mixed drinks.
The front desk offered laundry services for 200 CK. Monday-Friday you can drop off your laundry and pick it up the next day allowing you to enjoy Prague. Also, they would do cash money exchanges to Czech currency without a charge. I believe they accepted French franks, German marks and American dollars.
I would also like to add that they were very accommodating. We had to leave unexpectedly and had already paid for the night. They gave us a refund minus the key deposit without question. They also helped us make hostel arrangements in our next destination.
The only things we disliked were the lack of Internet access and the climb up the hill.
