Review Topic: Practical Information
Well my friends and I were in Prague a couple of weeks ago. We didnīt have any reservation for our stay, but we didnīt need to have one. By coincedence we met a guy renting out appartments for that overnight stay. They were good, big and clean, so no problems there. Just donīt walk away if someone offers you a room, you can hit the jackpot there...
But there are a few negatives as well:
We wanted to go to the inner city to go to some discos, etc. We went to a taxi place and the drivers were almost fighting about wo should take us. Some guy did and the first question he asked was: `want to have sex?` We declined, but anyway he took us to three etablisments, which payed him a certain percentage for bringing customers. We always told him to take us to the inner city, but he wouldnīt listen. He also drove like a maniac with up to 100 miles/hour through the city and itīs suburbs. When we finally wer at the third etablisment we wanted to pay him off and walk away. His price was in the region of $30, which was way to expensive for what should have been normally a ten minute drive. We didnīt want to pay that and so he grabbed a friend of mine by the throat and we had to settle for $20. So my advice: call a cab by phone, donīt take one standing somewhere. If you now say call the cops, you are wrong. With corruption very high they wonīt do a thing...
Then someone broke into my friends car. Luckily we didnīt have anything in there of any value. We went to the police, but they didnīt seem to interested to take our report on that crime. By the way, the car was in a closed garage, for which we had to pay for as well.
We then went to a restaurant. While sitting there it became obvious that they have prizes for czecks and tourists. Also they gave us a lower quality in wine or food, so it didnīt taste relly good. And again we payed way too much. So better go to places not at tourist sights or crowded places. A little outside the inner city will do you good.
I just want to add that Prague is cheap and a great city, but I will never go there again(at least no overnight stays there any more). All these prices and things we learned there wer not really pleasant. But if you stay outside of Prague and go there for the day, you might enjoy this beautiful city.
Thanks for reading.
