Pros: Little big city. Copenhagen has a long history, and much of it is well-preserved. English is spoken everywhere, and Americans/British are welcomed and emulated. The dollar goes a long way.
Cons: My visit was too short to find any negatives, although I saw some hard-core drug abusers hanging around. Car rental was problematic, but calling ahead would probably save you that trouble.

| aashtech's Full Review: Copenhagen |
I drove across Denmark to spend an evening in Copenhagen, and the trip was well worth it. Renting a car on short notice in Denmark was tricky, though. The only place we could find was based in a gas station (that sold everything from groceries to girlie magazines!) The woman behind the counter did not know how to arrange for any unlimited mileage rate, so we expected to pay heavily for such a long drive. As it turned out, when we turned the car back in, the owner of the business was able to accommodate us nicely.
One of the highlights of the drive was an amazing bridge system, since lots of the country is composed of various islands. I marveled at the engineering that linked some of them on our journey.
The destination was incredible, too. I found Copenhagen a very beautiful city, with some fascinating historical places. Tivoli Gardens was closed due to the lateness of the season, but we parked nearby and found the immediate square bustling with activity. There are many walking areas with streets closed to cars, and you stroll past some great shoppes and restaurants. We ate at a restaurant in the Square of the Grey Monks. (I was there a few month ago, so can't remember the Danish name, but that is the translation. Everyone speaks English so we had no problem finding it.)
Once in the square, there are about four restaurants and they all looked good. We ate at the one named for the Grey Monks, and really enjoyed it.
Later, we walked down to the docks and this is a place you definitely have to visit. There are lots of little bars, shoppes, and galleries which give you a good local flavor. As it turns out, we met a colleague there (small world) and he (being from London) took us to an English pub that was very authentic--right down to the musician and even the patrons.
My visit was short, but I would go back anytime, hopefully to stay longer.
