Lord's has a huge indoor practice facility that many of the local club teams use during the winter, not that you can tell the difference between summer and winter very easily. Glad the memory has faded too much...I would start listing all the pubs that I used to frequent around that area but that would be an ENORMOUS epinion in it's own right...

Thanks very much! The Cafe Rouge is great, isn't it?! My wife is going to Paris and London for ten days in June, but I have to stay home, due to the imbeciles at INS taking forever to grant my permission to travel ...

An excellent review! (Reply to this comment)

I really liked the way you incorporated your personal experiences into your description of St. John's Wood. I walked through that area when I visited London, but did not have the chance to fully explore it. I also had a lovely breakfast at Cafe Rouge. Wonderful memories!

Actually your memory wasn't blurred too much by all those pints: The Ordnance did indeed used to be called The Ordnance Arms, but apparently they changed the name when remodelling in the early nineties or thereabouts. Did you play county cricket at Lord's? I would expect that you would have to be pretty good to get to train and play there.

the Ordnance after cricket practice at Lord's, but for some reason I thought it was called the Ordnance Arms...perhaps one too many pints. I loved the St.John's Wood area, and as I worked on Marylebone Road it was a relatively short walk. Nice review, bought back some interesting memories...

I'll have to trust you on that one, Susan, as I am not a Stones fan.

"Your mother, she's an heiress on the block in St. John's Wood" ("Playing With Fire"), or at least I think that's what it says!
Very nice, Nat, as always.
