I traveled with my wife to Paris in November of '99. It was the second leg after China of our honeymoon. Paris is as romantic as everyone describes it. It was actually my second visit but my wife's first. The weather in Paris was a bit chilly (45 degrees) but it was still enjoyable. Being an art history major back in college, I was very interested in seeing all the art Paris had to offer. On my first visit, I did just that but missed the Musee D'orsay. During this visit , that was my one stipulation.
The museum was wonderful. It reminds me of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Each gallery has recognizable works from Manet to Degas or Impressionist to Symbolist. The layout of the museum was a bit confusing. A layout map was very helpful and without it rooms may be missed. But that would be my only complaint of the Musee D'orsay.
Outside the cafe there was even an exhibit demonstrating the process of the different media such as sculpture.
Musee D'orsay was a converted railway station. The building itself is a sight to see. I would recommend visiting this museum for anyone who is in search of a bit of culture
