You have to love such a crazy place! This place, although not the safest, is an exciting place to visit. If you love modern architecture, you will definitely enjoy walking the streets looking at the buildings. Whole buildings have become young artistsf canvasses. New innovative stairwells, windows, and decorative accessories have been added to the hodge-podge array of buildings in the city section. Old buildings peacefully coincide next to newer buildings and shopping centers.
If you enjoy street entertainers, this is the place to find starving artist of all kinds trying to earn a buck on the street. Or do you prefer small theaters and concert halls - because, you will find numerous ones in Kreuzberg. This is a section of Berlin that definitely never sleeps. There are tons of bars and discos to be visited here. However, I would caution you before you head to this section of town for a good night out. Things here can often get extreme. I lived in Berlin for a year and often heard many avid disco goers complain that Kreuzberg was too much for them. This is no reason to stay away from the area. Just be aware that things can get extreme. There are also plenty of places where you can relax and have a drink with a friend.
If you want to be around young people, that would be another reason why you would want to check out Kreuzberg.
Of course, it has been three years since I have been there. Berlin is undergoing a lot of construction and change. However, I can not imagine that Kreuzberg, a place where many a riot has occurred, has changed its youthful, energetic appeal.
