My experience at Hotel Gellert (Reply to this comment)
by Epicure
I visited Hotel Gellert last May, and while I found the architecture of the hotel stunning and the pool quite majestic, I think the massage rooms left something to be desired. Don't get me wrong. I do think the $8 that I paid for my very vigorous massage was a bargain, but for those of you accustomed to massages in the U.S., this was quite a different experience. The massage table resembled a hospital gurney and the sheet covering it and me was stained and dirty. The lighting was also a bit harsh. But to be fair, the technique of my masseuse was quite good. To sum up, if you are looking for a relaxing, luxurious spa setting, this is not the place for you, but if you want an inexpensive, invigorating massage, by all means go to the Hotel Gellert.

My husband is an absolute pleasure pig when it comes to steam baths, pedicures, manicures, and massages. (usually done by yours truly ;) He's going to book a flight directly to Budapest if he reads this...
So many staff members don't understand English...but are they nice about it!? :) If I try to speak their language will I get howls of laughter and haughty looks?

Our little Alyosha is writing again!
A gem amidst the nekulturny clutter we seem to attract these days.
GRAU: Great Review As Usual. (Seems somehow Graustarkian, or at least Ruritanian, doesn't it? Oh, well.)

The Gellert (Reply to this comment)

The side street by the Gellert is called Kemenes utca..... It used to belong to the family who's grand daughter I had dinner with in Savaria last week. (The aristocrat and the peasant).
