The only time I have ever left the country is to go to Ireland which I have done not only because of my family over there but because it is such an amazing place to be in. Even the smell is better, it is so much cleaner and natural when compared to the smell of the United States, and I know this sounds weird but if you go you will fully understand. 
I always loved driving down the roads and seeing the many castles and being able to stop and walk around in them. Ireland is so much slower paced, it is a much more relaxing than America where everything is fast paced and it seems everyone has some where to be and the place that they are going to is more important than where you are going. In Ireland everyone is calm and relaxed, there are the few exceptions but the majority are so much nicer. 
I also love going to visit the Giants Causeway it is a great place to go to, the scenery there is amazing, just like it is across the rest of the country. 
My least favorite part of the country is the weather, it seems that it is always raining but it is always a sprinkle/ shower and it doesn't last too long and the sun isn't always out and it tends to be about 60 degrees F which is a great change if it is the summer, the cool weather is really refreshing. I highly recommend going to Ireland!
