Rome - wonderful!

Pros:Wildly beautiful and historical
Cons:Thieves, hectic, crowded
How can one describe Rome? The sheer history of the city is enough to make one want to see it. It's a beautiful city that is bustling with life and excitement. There is simply too much to see in one lifetime however.
The must see's of course are the world famous landmarks such as the Forum, Colliseum, Pantheon, Vatican City and the list goes on and on. Budget your time wisely or else you won't get to see it all.
There are lots and lots of tourists all jockying to see the same sites that we were there to see. Many groups of Germans, French, Russians, and Americans. On really crowded days, you had to be forcefull not to get run over.
We got around the city by using the city buses which were convenient but very crowded. Be wary of pick pockets, gypsies, and sexual perverts as we encountered both on the buses. Crime is always an issue but nothing to be overly concerned with, just be observant and careful at all times.
The food is delicious and cheap with great cafes on every corner. The main fare is pizza (of course) and ham and cheese sandwiches. The pastry is very good also.
The Romans were generally very kind and were eager to try and help with directions and observations.
Overall, the scenery, the food and the ambiance make Rome irresistible! A must see for history lovers!
