Review Topic: Overview
I have traveled all over Europe and the most unique spot along the way was Amsterdam. The have everything from legalized drugs to the Anne Frank museum. The city is open and honest about what it has and I want to share w/ you my experience or Amsterdam my way which was a whirlwind 3 day stay. I don't smoke but the guys with me did and I say we all had fun even those who didn't get stoned
DAY 1
the first day there I spent walking the city, getting my bearings and heading to the tourist information booth to get a map of the city. I was w/ 2 other people and we got off at the bus depot not knowing where we would stay. We ended up in the youth hostel which was about 20 minutes by foot from the red light district. I quickly learned there was more to the city than drugs and sex. The city is like Venice as it is surrounded by canals and unique architecture. So day one we spent just walking, checking out various coffee shops and enjoying the atmosphere whilst finding a place to stay
DAY 2
We headed to the major attraction. We went to Anne Frank museum which educational and errie. It was hard to believe that we were in the very house that she had hid out in and I tried to imagine the fear and anxiety she went through but it is unimaginable and painful. After that harrowing experience, we walked the canals checked out the Heineken brewery, saw how they make the suds and sampled some of it. We were buzzed and having fun. The next stop was the Sex museum. A trip to Amsterdam is not complete unless you go there. It gives you an understanding of the city and why it has such liberal attitudes. After stopping at the local coffee shop so my buds could have a space cake(hash brownie) and a smoke we were off to find some food. There are all kinds of places from Mac D's to local shops but don't leave the city w/o trying their favorite chips w/ mayoneisse!ugghhh
the evening was spent partying it up in the red light district. We headed to a sex show at the Taj Mahal, which is something I recommend doing only to say you saw it. It is not erotic nor did it get me excited but to each their own. I just did it b/c it was the thing too do. We then strolled the district checking out how much the 'poor lady' in the window was. I found that they were like caged animals on display but that’s for another epinion. It was sight to behold 6 blocks about 8 blocks deep of sex shops, sex shows and coffee shops all in lights. We spent the night going from coffee shop to coffee shop including the hard rock cafe, and grasshopper.
DAY 3
We spent a quiet day and took a canal trip. We headed onto a boat which took us throughout the city. We saw the harbor and the guide explained how the city came to be and a little about the architecture. We had to catch a bus out of Amsterdam later that night so we just headed back to our favorite coffee shop. My friends sampled the goods at it and we headed off into the sunset. A little tired and feeling like we had seen all sides of Amsterdam. The beauty, the beast and the over indulgence.
CONCLUSION
Check out this unique city, see what it has to offer. You can walk, smoke, eat drink, watch sex, have sex and have a unique experience. It's kinda like Vegas but with a European flare and minus the showgirls, glitz and glamour but it is a place you can go whether you smoke or just wanna see an interesting European city!!
