| DanGallic's Full Review: Holy See (Vatican City) |
I have had the opportunity to visit many places, both on business and liesure. I can say with certainty that Rome is by far the most impressive place I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.
My visit centered around the Vatican, since my good friend was studying the priesthood there at the time. He took us around for a tour for about four hours. I can honestly say that I don't remember much of what he said. The sights are awesome. When visiting St. Peters I stopped in my tracks. As soon as I walked through the door, my heart stopped. I could have never prepared for the shear emmensity of the Basilica. On that pretty much sums up my visit. Everywhere we went was just so fantastic to behold, words of explanation seems to be dull noise in the background.
Perhaps that is why I enjoyed Rome and the Vatican so much. The sights go beyond the language. They transcend the people, culture and the business of everyday life going around you. By the way, the people are just great and I really enjoy the culture.
I thoroughly think that everyone should experience Rome and the Vatican once in your life. Stay with the people in a rented room, as a travel agent to find one. If you hit a wall, call the tourist bureau they will help you.
DO NOT CARRY CASH!!!!!!! Use credit cards as much as possible and carry travelers check. This is one of those countries where money walks on it own.
The food is great, the wine is so-so. Be sure to try the desserts.
Enjoy!!!
