Possibly the Best Empanadas in Buenos Aires

First a definition: an empanada is a sort of meat pie. It's a pastry crust with a filling of beef and vegetables, ham and cheese, or other stuff usually cooked in an oven, altho sometimes fried. It's a very popular snack food across South America.
By far the best Empanadas I have encountered in Buenos Aires, indeed, in all of my travels across Latin America, are at a place called La Querencia. Their beef empanadas are my favorite. Unlike most empanadas here which use ground beef, La Querencia uses (and here I'm lacking the english word) carne cortado a cuchilla, that is to say, very good cuts of beef cut in small chunks so that you can still taste their flavor and texture.
I won't say that these are the best empanadas in Buenos Aires, but I have taken many Argentine friends to this restaurant and they have all given it very high marks.
In addition to beef empanadas they have a wide selection including chicken, ham and cheese, albahaca, etc. The crust on the ham and cheese empanadas are sprinkled with sugar and make a nice desert. They also have other regional dishes like Locro, Humita, etc. I've only just eaten the empanadas at this place, so I can't comment on their other dishes.
I would avoid their house wine, however. It is cheap, but it must come out of a box, it tastes like vinegar.
The empanadas cost $1.20 to $1.50 (four or five makes a good meal), which is a bit more expensive than the standard $.60-.90, but the extra flavor and quality is well worth the cost. La Querencia makes a common street food into a fine restaurant dish.
La Querencia has three locations in Buenos Aires, the corner of Junin and Juncal (near where I live in Barrio Norte), Esmeralda 1392 (near downtown), and Juramento 2378 (out in Belgrano). They are open from 11:30am-4pm and 6:30pm-midnight.
