While it was one of the most amazing place I have ever been....Don't chance it and book a trip to Costa Rica during the rainy season. You'll be really upset with yourself for missing out on all the country has to offer except mud wrestling. My husband and I went there on our honeymoon last October (the last few days of the rainy season) and hit a weeks worth of rain. Then came the hurricane that killed hundreds of people through-out Central America. The country literally shuts down with all that rain. Roads wash away, farm animals roam about, power is out for days and the mud fills the ocean. I don't care how in love you are as a newly weds, you can stay in your hotel room only sooo long....if you get my drift.
If you do go, be sure to stay at Lapa Rios. It had the most amazing anmenites, food and scenery. Talk with the locals, they love to show you their country and practice their english with you. They are the real sunshine down there.
And YES, you can drink the water.
