Rafting down the Pacuare River was a rush, unlike any I have ever experienced. I used the company Aventuras Naturales - and recommend them highly for their professionalism. This is an adventure that is not for the faint of heart. You must also be physically fit because it is a complete workout. The river provides both class III and IV rapids. Imagine traveling on a raft with 5 other people whom you have never met before but must rely upon and even put your life in their hands. I stress this point because in the roughest section of class IV rapids I got thrown from the boat and went swimming. The only thing that saved me was that I didn't panic, I recalled all emergency instructions and my rafting team was able to catch up to me, throw me a rope and bring me back into the raft. But my heart was pounding, I smashed into rocks, swallowed water, and was even sucked under into a whirlpool. Let's just say that at the end of the trip I promised to buy beers for everyone. I wouldn't have given that experience up for the world. It was well worth putting my life on the line. You really gain a new sense for the awesome power of nature. If you are up for the challenge, you won't regret rafting down the Pacuare River. It will test you to the limits.
