| BIKI's Full Review: Bodrum |
To me Bodrum is the prettiest resort in the South Aegean part of Turkey. Bodrum’s hisoric past goes back to the times of the Persian invasion. There was a masoleum built here which was reputed amongst the Seven Wonders of the world, but it was destroyed in 1500ish. Still, the town owns part of its fame to this monument. Nowadys the main attraction is probably the Crusdars’ castle. Most part of the castle was effectively built with the stones of the Masoleum. It is still possible to visit the area where the Masoleum was built.
For those who are not so keen on history, the sea offers many possibilities. Many people go on a day trip by yacht. The first call of this trip is generally the Black Island, where you can swim in hot springs and cover your body with mud supposed to make you sexier and healthier. (It did not wok on myself!!) Later, after a tasty and cheap lunch, you are taken to another semi-secluded cove, where water is extremely clear.
We were told that accomodation would not be a problem in June and we could just walk around and ask for prices. We stayed at Herodot Pension where we paid $30 for a double. I can recommend it since it was very clean and the staff proved to be very kind and helpful.
All together, Bodrum is definitively a place worth going to.
