During my year in Turkey the most interesting place I visited was Bodrum. I loved it! Only about three hours from Izmir, as the Turkish drive, or about 4 hours for us Americans. This beautiful resort town has what you are looking for. Disco's, clubs, pubs, restaraunts, you name it this place has it. All day and all night you can find your style of entertainment here.
Lodging ranges from inexpensive to expensive. You can easily find a nice small one bed hotel room for $5.00 within walking distance from the disco's, or a slightly more expensive ($8.00), within walking distance with meals included. For those who are looking for more physical types of entertainment you can find it here too. Boats for rent by the hour or day for fishing, parasailing, or waterskiing.
Just walking around Bodrum can be entertaining. The view of the ocean at sunset cannot be beat! The weather this time of year is gorgeous, warm evenings with a gentle breeze off the ocean will make evening dining on open terraces perfect.
I traveled to Bodrum several times between April and May with my girlfriend. We often took her sail boat on cruises along the shore. For those of you who are into scenic tours, a day cruise along this coast is what you are looking for. It is outstanding!
The winter time is not the best time to travel to Bodrum due to the cold and rain at that time of year. After early May the temperatures are moderate until around June, then the weather heats up tremendously. My recommendation would be to go around mid May to mid June.
The time I spent in Bodrum makes up the majority of the fond memories I have of my year in this wonderful country. If I ever go back, Bodrum will be one of the first stops on my list.
