I am not putting this one in the section under cruises, because it will not do the justice to the Bermuda itself. About year and a half ago, my wife and I took a cruise on Royal Caribbean Song of America to Bermuda. The ship left from New York and it was a 7-day cruise. Since it was my first cruise, I was really excited, but my wife has taken cruises before and explained to me why it was not the best for the money, that you can get. Anyway it is not about the cruise.
Everyone knows that Bermuda has some of the cleanest and best beaches. We stayed in Bermuda for four days, while the ship docked. We visited various sites, stores and most importantly beaches. I have never seen water like that. When you go in, you never want to get out. The color is aqua/green and you can see right through. When you dive, you don't feel like coming back out. It is the most beautiful site I have ever experienced. Then there is sand. Bermuda has the PINK sand beaches. It is like flour. On New Jersey beaches or anywhere else, I hate the sand getting stock to my feet, but in Bermuda, I couldn't get enough of walking on it. It is the most soothing feeling you can possibly imagine. There are no words that can describe that feeling. I know some people on our ship, took a little sand and water back home, to show it to their kids. I just hope, that they can get the idea from the little amount, that those people brought home.
Another thing is the people. The locals obviously have a nice leaving. I am not saying that everyone is rich, but there is no poverty and the people are extremely nice to the tourists, and nobody bothers you. As oppose to other island, where you can't walk two steps without someone trying to sell you something, Bermuda is awfully pleasant. The scenery is nice. I strongly suggest getting a cab and going on the tour. If you take an organized tour, it will cost you more, so what we did, on the way to the beach, the cab driver took us the long way all over the island for about two hours and told us about the island, and the history of various buildings.
We also took a glass bottom boat cruise. Even though we met some nice people and it was very beautiful, it was not what we expected. If you are looking to see the fish through glass bottom, forget it, but if you just want to go on the pleasant boat ride, with beautiful scenery, it is definitely worth it. I took a lot of nice pictures.
There is one more thing that I want to mention. On our crew ship they were strongly advising people, not to rent the scooters. Before we went, I was strongly considering it and even had few disagreements with my wife, about the subject. I thought it would be a lot of fun. On the ship they told us about every cruise having accidents, due to a opposite side of the road traffic and that the locals are really nuts on those things. Sure enough, there were a few accidents, thank god nothing serious and when we saw the way the locals ride those things and drive, we knew we made a right decision. YES, my wife was right. So, if you go, I strongly recommend, not renting those things.
Bermuda is gorgeous and if you never been there, it is definitely a nice vacation spot to visit.
