Pros:Scenery
Cons:Can be very busy
The Bottom Line: Anyone can enjoy Banff!!

1) How to get there

It is located approximately 1 1/2 hours outside of Calgary. If you choose not to drive yourself Brewster operates a bus tour that picks up at various location in the downtown core and take you on a scenic tour of Banff along with a stop a sulphur mountain. For more details visit:

To many people make the mistake of showing up and not being impressed because it really is a small community. What you need to remember is that you don't go there because of the city. What draws you there is nature. Knowing that is the draw factor than take advantage of what nature has to show you. How many people can say they've been on a dogsled through the rocky's?

3) Accommodations

Everyone knows the Banff Springs hotel. To be honest I am less that enamored with it. There is no doubt it is a pretty building and regardless of where you stay should go check it out. I do feel however that for what you get it is over priced. You will be happier staying at some of the hotels located closer to town, like the Cariboo or Banff Park lodge. Much more reasonably priced, closer to town, conveniences, very clean and nice.

4) Dining

There is something there for everyone. What ever your heart desires you will find, from Greek to Japanese, from Subway to Fondues. Overall the restaurants are good, just remember it is a resort town so the pricing is a little higher than what you may be accustomed to paying.

Over all like with any trip the way to enjoy is doing your planning and research before you go. Understand what the area has to offer, now you options. Just like when you’re at home not all things in your hometown interest you so don’t expect any city you visit to magically have everything you want….
