Most of the time I felt like I was in San Diego with slightly warmer water (in the winter at PV compared to the summer in SD) and pushy vendors.

We are heading there in May of 2001. I hope we enjoy it as much as you obviously did. I love all the detail in your review.

I spent 16 days in Puerto Vallarta in October 1995 with 7 friends. We had a wonderful time. We stayed at a hotel right next door to the Sheraton. The name escapes me right now. The only problem we had there was being hit by a 7.5 earthquake! It was quite a memorable experience. Your review bought back some great memories. Thanks!

Great epinion (Reply to this comment)

I visited Puerto Vallarta about 8 years ago and loved it. Reading your epinion took me back there, again. Maybe it is time that I actually visited again.

When we went, we stayed at La Palaypa (?), this was a condo on the beach (in the old part of town) and we were able to rent out the "penthouse" (as it were) for about $50 a night (2 bedrooms, bath, living, dining, kitchen, huge balcony, and maid service). The pool was on the roof (just a few steps up) and on the ground floor, there was a restaurant that opened up onto the beach. When we were sitting on the beach relaxing, the waiter would come out and take our drink order. (VERY wonderful!)

Anyway, thanks again for a great epinion. I also recommend a trip to Puerto Vallarta.
