The ability to meet a lot of college girls across the border from San Diego in Tijuana is very easy. The number one aim of the visitors there for the night life is to pick up on the opposite sex and to get drunk.
Not necessarily in that order. There is no reason to pay for hookers. There is no reason to pay $5.00 for a beer just because a dancer is stripping for you.
The college crowd begins to peak in September when all the students come down from the San Diego area to party it up. The only drinking law in Tijuana is that you have to be 18. This is not strictly enforced.
If you stay away from the tourist areas you can find nice little bars that will have all of your food and beer really cheap. The problem though is that you will probably be the only English speaker in the place.
An alternative would be on the "Ave. Revolution". This area is easily got to by utilizing a taxi from the border. It should't cost you more than $5.00 to get a ride. You will have to bargain. If Make an offer of $5.00 for me and 2 of my friends and the driver wants $5.00 each we then start walking towards another taxi in the area. He will then decide $5.00 is pretty good after all.
Do not be afraid to negotiate with the drivers because there are definitely plenty of them waiting to give rides.
If you go to the main tourist area you will be in the "Ave. Revolution" area of town. You can shop for countless Mexican souvenirs during the day but the real fun comes at night. There are many nightclubs in this area which cater towards the American. Most of the time you will only see a few Mexicans that are not employees.
You have various styles of clubs in the area but the two main kinds I will discuss here.
The first club is your strip bar. These places cater to every type of person. There only goal is to fleece you of your money. You may be able to get a beer for around a buck but inside one of these places you will pay a lot more.
They have girls that work for the club who will sit with you at your table and keep you company while you drink and watch the other strippers. In order to have a girls sit with you you must "buy" her a drink. If a girl comes around and wants you to buy her a drink and you do you will have a companion for a little while.
The problem is that the beers can cost $5-$10 for each bottle that you buy the woman. Your beer may only be $2.50 to $4.00 for the same exact bottle. The women very rarely actually drink the beer.
This type of club will drain you of your money faster than a cheetah on meth. The women will come sit on your lap and start making out with you while they rub the outside of your pockets to feel for anything valuable.
This is a very common practice among this type of strip club in Tijuana.
Male visitors get in a taxi at the border and say they want to party. They really do not care where they go. They just want to party.Some of the clubs pay taxi-drivers to drop this type of tourist off in front of the club. The men are then greeted and escorted into the club where they are immediately trying to make the visitors feel like royalty. You will feel famous...as long as you keep spending your money.
This type of strip club is not recommended at all. Save some of your money by getting a better value for your party money.
The other type of club is the type that makes you wonder if you are even out of the states. The only sign of Mexico is the "Tequila Poppers".
Almost all of the people at this type of club is young college students. This is an excellent place to meet women. The cost of beer is still a little on the expensive side but it is still a lot cheaper than at the strip clubs.
During your wild night make sure you don't forget to save a few bucks for the taxi ride back to the border.
