Pros: If I think long enough I might come up with some.......no, I couldn't sorry.
Cons: Aggressive sales people.
The Bottom Line: Everyone will have different views of Tijuana but I for one, didn't like it.

I'm sure Tijuana is not the ' real' Mexico and I am sure Avenida Revolucion is not the 'real' Tijuana but...it is the closest I got.
We decided to check out Tijuana one Sunday morning. We drove down to the border and parked at the Border Station car park ($6).Take the 'Last U.S. Exit' which takes you to Camino de la Plaza. You will notice the carpark straight away. From here you can catch the shuttle bus which will take you right into Avenida Revolucion for $2 return. It leaves every half hour right through the day in both directions. The drop off point in Tijuana is a small depot, you walk through a Mall and onto the street.
As soon as you hit the street you will be accosted by aggressive sales people trying to get you to buy their goods.
Some will actually stand right in front of you , blocking your path, shoving jewelry in your face and imploring you to buy.I started off politely addressing each one with "No Thankyou" until I reached the point of just ignoring them, this seemed to work the best.
As you walk down the street each shop or stall has someone at the door urging you to come in for a 'special deal'.
Some of the sales people are masters at handling tourists, my favorite quip was "come in and buy something you don't need".
To be honest, I didn't see anything I wanted to buy. It was just row upon row of tacky souvenirs, pretty much the same goods on offer at every place. If I had been given the 'space' to look I may have bought more but as soon as you stop to look at something they pounce. At one stage I had a woman pulling my arm saying "lady, lady, look at this".
On every street corner you will see tired and weary white donkeys, painted to look like zebras and decked out in bright Mexican blankets. Behind them is a cart where tourists are invited to sit to get their souvenir photo taken, all for only $5.
The street was extremely busy and full of cars. When crossing the road make sure to obey the traffic lights as we saw one guy just about get run down. NO, the drivers will not give way to you here!
After a couple of hours of this we went back to the bus and headed back to the border.A word of advice, as soon as the bus gets close to the border and you see people get off, join them. We weren't sure whether to or not so erred on the side of caution. As a result we spent a long, slow hour in traffic inching our way to the border crossing. When we actually made it we had to get of and go through customs. They looked over our passports, made some light talk about New Zealand and then sent us on our way.We reboarded the bus and, with a sigh of relief, got back to the car park.
I think if I ever went back to Avenida Revolucion, it would be with a group of friends going to have a good time. The restaurants etc looked fun!
