Pros: Good Shopping, Gardens & restaurants, Great Airport. Many things to do.
Cons: About 1% of it can be a little run down
The Bottom Line: Brisbane has many things to do and most of them won't break the bank.

Brisbane is Australia's third largest city.
If you want to do some shopping Queens street mall is the place to do it. This Mall has several shopping centre. The MYER centre which is the largest has about 6 levels and many shops as well as cafes and cinemas. There are other shopping centres also.
Only a few blocks from the Mall is the Brisbane clock tower. This is definetly worth a visit. The clock tower which is in the style of yesteryear has a small attendant operated lift which takes you to the top. At the top there is an enclosed viewing platform where you get a good view of King George Square and a view of Brisbane's many tall buildings.
New farm park is a must see. The Brisbane river runs beside the park with a ferry station so access is easy.
The park is large and has many plants. There are hundreds of rose bushes and several other types of vegetation.
The botanical gardens are worth a visit and also a visit to the botanical gardens at Mt cootha are nice too. The planetarium at Mt Cootha is also worth a visit.
A visit to the Boondall wetlands is a very natural experience. Many waterbirds have the wetlands as their home as well as several other types of Fauna and Flora. As the wetlands are near the airport it is easy to get to them.
If you have time try and get on the ferry to St Helena Island. This is an ex convict prison and provides a view into times past. This ferry has tours in the day and at night for an errie experience.
Brisbane is also close to the Gold Coast (see my review on Gold Coast) and also the sunshine coast.
Brisbane also has a china town and on the Chinnese new year comes alive with performances. I can't comment much on china town as I have never been there.
It is easy to get around brisbane. Modern electric trains operate over most of the city and surrounding suburbs. A bus system also operates all over the city and suburbs.
I hope this has helped your decision. Have a nice time if you choose to go.
