| dmorton's Full Review: Bora Bora |
Tahiti was my destination for my honeymoon. I could not think of a lovelier place to spend with my new bride. Although the main island of tahiti was a bit commercial for me, Bora Bora was a quick 1/2 hour plane ride away. Just looking at the island as the plane was approaching took my breath away.
The airport is located on one of the longer strips of land that encompasses the island. From there we took a short ferry over to Hotel Bora Bora. We stayed in a garden hut. One great thing about this island is that it is very secluded. If you are looking for a get away, this is the place for you.
The beaches are covered with white sand and the water is clear blue. We went snorkeling out from the beach at the hotel. It was so nice. Because the salt water makes you more bouyant, you can snorkel all afternoon. I know I did. I also went scuba diving. I registered with the concierge and headed out towards the dock. The boat picked us up and with a quick lesson, we were in the wild blue. I believe we only went 30 feet, which was enough and safe for an amatuer like me. Also, we stayed with the dive master in case there were any problems. Although others may say this would be dangerous, I felt safe.
The food on the island was fabulous. We had fresh seafood every day. Although I must admit I was tired of Mahi Mahi by the end of the trip. And the french fries there were the best I've had in the world. Although I'm sure everything is the best in paradise.
All in all, this is paradise for me. I can't wait until I return.
