I've lived in Scottsdale for years now and I'm still amazed at the number
of tourists that line the streets of Old Town Scottdale.
Don't get me wrong....there are plenty of shops to look around, lot's
of art & souvenier stores and lot's of crafty type shops touting all
their "original" Indian and Mexican wares.....however....this is a
TOURIST trap to the enth degree.
The shops are very nice and fun to look around but please don't waste
your money there. You can go right over to Scottsdale Fashion Square
(which is a short walk from Old Town) and buy those same cutesy items
to bring home for 1/2 the price.
If you care to venture even a little further you can go over to Paradise
Valley Mall and get them for even less.
The restaurants there are also plentiful but again, the prices are so
ridiculous. Most of us who live in town would NEVER eat in one of those
restaurants. The employees are mostly kids from ASU who have no class
or manners and the prices/portions are ridiculous.
If you are visiting town, please feel free to e-mail me and I'd be more
than happy to give you a few recommendations of places to see and go
to eat.
Enjoy
