Restaurant Overall
New China is a restaurant that has been in my town for a few years. It just recently reopened in a new location after their other location had a fire. Chinese food is what I crave most of the time when I have cravings. Mr. Rob aka Burseer took me to dinner here last week after we couldn’t agree on where to go. As usual the dining experience was top notch. The restaurant has seating for at least 300 people.
On a weekend night either go early or go late if you do not want to wait for a table.
Food
New China does offer a menu, but I have rarely seen anyone order from it. Most people opt for the wonderful buffet that they serve.
The Appetizers range from fried wontons, egg rolls, to fried biscuits. My personal favorite is the fried wontons. I could just eat those as a meal they are so heavenly. The prices range from .90 cents to $3.05.
Fried Rice is offered in six different varieties ranging from plain to shrimp fried rice. The prices are reasonable ranging from $4.95 to $5.95.
Lo Mein or Mei Fun is offered in six different varieties ranging from Shrimp Lo Mein to Pork Lo Mein. For those of you not familiar with this food it is thin noodles/spaghetti like noodles served with veggies, pork, chicken, or beef. The prices range from $4.50 to $5.95.
Chow Mein is offered the same as the Lo Mein varieties and is served with rice. The prices range from $4.50 to $5.95.
Chicken is readily available in fifteen different dishes. Orange Chicken would have to be my favorite followed by Sweet & Sour Chicken. All of these dishes are priced at $6.30.
Pork is served in a variety of seven different dishes to hopefully satisfy your taste for pork if need be. Sweet & Sour Pork is always a favorite a Chinese Restaurant or you may opt to try the Boneless Spare Ribs. The prices range from $5.30 to $7.25.
Beef is available in thirteen different dishes ranging from Pepper Steak to Beef with Hot Garlic Sauce. The Pepper Steak would have to be my choice when it comes to satisfying the beef taste that I crave.
Seafood is readily available in fourteen different dishes. Unfortunately I can’t give my recommendation this time. I am not a “Seafood person” at all. But rest assured many of my friends love their wide selection ranging from Sweet & Sour Shrimp to Tomato Shrimp. The prices fall in the range of $7.50 to $10.00.
The Buffet is generally what people order when they eat at New China. The buffet has everything imaginable that you could want and more. There are many items that are not on the menu that are on the buffet. My personal favorite is the Fruit and Salad Bar that is available on the buffet. If you still have room after you eat you can eat a piece of cake or choose from many different desserts offered on their Dessert Bar.
The prices are just right at $5.25 for lunch and $7.25 for dinner for an adult. Children 4 and under eat free. If your child is between the ages of 4-10 for lunch the price is $2.95 and dinner is $3.95. You can also come in a fix a take out box from the buffet at a reduced price for lunch and dinner. All in all you will get your bang for your buck at New China. The buffet price does not include the price of a drink.
Service
The service had been above and beyond every single time I have eaten here over the last few years. The staff is wonderful and extremely friendly. They always surpass my expectations at New China.
Décor
When you walk you will be greeted by a hostess who will then seat you in a smoking or non-smoking section. They also have a banquet room available for those large gatherings. On the wall farthest on the left they have huge framed pictures of their culture and some sights. The pictures are literally gorgeous. Other than that the décor is considered a “Plain Jane” in my opinion. But at this restaurant I am not paying to see the décor as in some restaurants you do.
Special Notes, Tips, or Menu Recommendations
I do believe the key word is buffet, buffet, and buffet. You will not be disappointed in the least bit. Even if you are a picky eater like myself you will find something that you like.
