Pros: home to a historic Del Taco, Rosita's, Harvey House, many people speak Spanish and English
Cons: too many tourists, chromium 6, roads in disrepair, Wal-Mart
The Bottom Line: Good for tourists on a tight budget, most people just don't know where to look. I don't like living here, though.

| grayspecs's Full Review: Barstow |
I live in Barstow, and since most people can only mention the outlet mall, I'll tell you some better places to go and places to avoid if you're traveling through or you just get stuck here.
Places to go:
-Route 66 Mother Road Museum (in Harvey House)
-Railroad Museum (also in Harvey House)
-The Harvey House
-Rosita's, nice Mexican food (medium price-range)
-Idle Spurs, expensive but good
-Skyline drive-in, real Americana
-Burger King, least disgusting fast food in town
-Calico Ghost Town
-Hotels: Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Best Western
Places to avoid:
-the roach motels
-the Wallace movie theatre
-McDonald's, my Dad was on the jury, trust me
-Carlos and Totos, Mexican food poisoning
-the Outlet Mall, unless thats what you're going for
-the regular mall
-any canyons or basins at night
If you break down...
-shop at Stater Brothers, not Vons
-MiraStar has the cheapest gas in town
-Taco Bell has the cheapest food
-don't drink the water
-take a bus to St.Mary's hospital in Apple Valley in case of injury
-there are many fine Cash N Advance locations
(yes, I am one of the many bilangual people here so thats not sarcasm)
