| marandamx's Full Review: Half Moon Bay |
Half Moon Bay is a small bay side town with nice beaches, yummy restaurants and a very cute downtown. Whenever I am in the area I like to drive by, stop at my favorite bakery for some chocolate cake and get my ocean fix.
Location;
Half Moon Bay is location in northern California about a half hour south of San Francisco and about a half hour north of Santa Cruz. It is located right off of Highway 1 and the very curvy Highway 92. It is easy to find from either Highway they both run right into it.
Beaches;
There are many different beaches in and around Half Moon Bay. I can't tell you which one is my favorite because I haven't found one that I don't like. The most famous beach in Half Moon Bay is called Pebble Beach. It is a little south of Half Moon bay right off of Highway 1. Another fun beach is right next to the Light House it is called Pigeon Point Beach. Most of the beaches here are also state parks and have a little fee to get in.
Hotels;
There is a camp ground, a very nice RV park, a Hostell at the Light House, many bed and breakfast and a few sea side hotels. On my last over night stay at Half Moon Bay I stayed at the Half Moon Bay Lodge, which is a Best Western. It is right along Highway 1 and you can't miss it. They had very clean rooms and nice employees. We paid about $150 for the night which was a pretty good price for the area. They also had a pool and a nice spa.
Restaurants;
Half Moon Bay has some pretty nice restaurants it self but my favorite restaurant is a couple miles north in the small town of Moss Beach. It is called the Moss Beach Distillery and the reason why I like it is because they have yummy sea food and ghost. The restaurant is said to be haunted and with the menu comes stories of the haunting's. My two favorite restaurants inside of Half Moon Bay are Sushi Main Street, a small fun little sushi place and the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company which has yummy sea food and other stuff. The one place in Half Moon bay I have to stop at every time I visit is the Moonside Bakery & Cafe, I love their cakes.
Other things to do;
Other then going to beach in Half Moon Bay my second favorite thing to do is to walk down Main Street. There have all different types of shops and it is a very cute area. This also where my Moonside Bakery is. There are art galleries, gift shops, antique stores, even a dog bakery and much more. One fun thing they have in Half Moon bay that I plan to do some time is a deep sea fishing or whale watching cruise.
Over all;
Half Moon Bay is a cute small town along the coast. There isn't too much to do but if you in the mood just to take it easy and relax this is the place. I am always in the mood to spend some time here.
