Sniff sniff. Like Freak, not a day goes by when I don't think about my beloved San Diego. Lived in La Jolla for 2 years and they were the best 2 years of my life. It's so awesome there even though prices of everything was ridiculous. The zoo is my favorite place in all the world.

I haven't been to the Wild Animal Park for years, but when I was a youngster, we had a membership with my grandparents, so we went often. It's definitely a cool park, but if you don't get pay for the train ride, the park is a little dull.

The Sawdust Festival has some amazing artists/artisans, but the Pageant of the Masters is one of those "must do in this lifetime" things.

Thanks for stopping by!

I would also recommend the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda. No matter your opinions of the guy, the museum is extremely interesting.

I have done everything except 1 and 3. The South Coast Plaza is probably one of the only malls in Southern California I have not been to at some time or another.

While I love Balboa Park, I like the Wild Animal Park better than the zoo, although a lot of the Wild Animal is torn up right now as they are doing some major reconstruction.

I wanted to take my wife to the Queen Mary when we visited in November but it was closed because of some huge protest going on in the vicinity. Oh well, maybe in this year.

If you ever go to Long Beach, you have to go to the restaurant the Reef Restaurant for an AMAZING all you can eat brunch!! It's pretty much right next to the Queen Mary!

That's so cool- I am jealous, as I don't have my annual CA trip planned this year!! How long are you going to Disneyland for? It's definitely expanded in recent years, but nothing compared to WDW!! :) Say hi to JFG (Joyfulgirl) for me!!

but now I'm headed there in March to see Disneyland as well as do 9 and 10. Oh, and to see Jessica (Joyfulgirl). Maybe she should get a spot on the list ;).

most of these on my trips to California..two of your honorable mentions are my faves..the queen Mary and Griffith Observatory..I always think of James Dean when I'm up there...we once went horse back riding in the hills near the Hollywood sign..

I love California and really enjoyed your review

I think the San Diego Zoo just has a soft spot in my heart, but Balboa Park in general is pretty cool. I should have added Sea World, but I wasn't in the mode of theme parks when writing this review... perhaps I'll save that for another day, although I haven't been to Knott's Berry farm or Magic Mountain for years.

I really do miss SoCal. As much as I complained about gas, milk and the price of eggs, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss it. The zoo wasn't all that everyone cracked it up to be but Sea World was very impressive.

Ahhh ... and the surfing. And the surfers ...
