Pros:great people watching, good food, art galleries , night life
Cons:not a lot of beaches
We spent Christmas 1998 in the Keys...LOVED it!
We started in Key Largo, closest to Miami, and drove down to Key West.
I must say that the upper keys offer little night life, but have great scuba, snorkleing, and fishing.
The drive down through the keys was great...if you do it you must rent a convertible! You can also fly directly into Key West, but it's fun to drive.
We stayed at the Marriott Reach Resort, great service, one of the few hotels on the water that actually has its own beach. They also have jet skis, and other fun water toys.
The sunset celebration every night at the end of Duvall street is great fun, good for families with kids or adults...there are live bands, jugglers and magicians...
And of course Key West isn't complete without stopping at Sloppy Joe's and the Hog's Breath Saloon.
There are also some GREAT restaurants...all price ranges, but if you have a special occasion & don't mind spending some extra $$ I highly recommend
Cafe des Artistes...written up on Gourmet magazine...the lobster is amazing!
