The Robert C. Williams American Museum of Papermaking located at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology on 10th Street, adjacent to the Georgia Tech Campus, is one of Atlanta's hidden gems. If you like papermaking and related crafts this museum is for you.
The museum traces the origins of papermaking with many examples of how different cultures developed the ability to record writings and to make paper. There are many examples of papermaking tools, papers, watermarks, manuscripts and other artifacts.
You will also want to check the schedule for changing exhibits, special speakers and workshops. Make arrangements in advance for a guided tour or Paperworks! (a guided tour with hands-on papermaking workshop) or drop in during museum hours for a self-guided tour. The museum does have a gift shop.
