Although I don't agree that New Orleans is a great or even good place to bring kids I enjoyed reading your review. I also wanted to let you know about your shoe experience. Basically if they get you to "stop" they will dump some goo on your shoe and say they are giving you a shoe shine and it costs $5 or something. Also, anyone on the ground giving you beads may be expecting money in return...it's best to keep walking.
