Pros: An inexpensive, funky, B&B. In French Quarter -- but not on Bourbon St.
Cons: No real negatives.
The Bottom Line: The Sun & Moon B&B proved to be a solid place for a family get together in The Big Easy.

| livetoride's Full Review: French Quarter |
The Sun & Moon B&B is located at the west border of the French Quarter, at 1037 No. Rampart St., New Orleans. An easy 10 minute walk has you down at the Mississippi River,or, in 5 minutes you can be on boisterous Bourbon St. The Sun & Moon was our headquarters for a mini-family reunion. Our family rented the two rooms known as the "Sun" room, &, the "Moon" room. I believe the Sun & Moon B&B has a total of about 5 rooms. Our rooms were "back behind" the front building. According to the Sun & Moon brochure, these quarters were used by the "hired help" years ago. Both rooms were more or less identical, althought the upstairs rooms had a better grade of decor than our downstairs room.
The Sun & Moon would be classified as: "adequate", &, "funky". This lodging was adequate as far as the comfort in the rooms, and service. Our manager, Glinda, was a very pleasurable lady who became our New Orleans friend. When we checked into the Sun & Moon it was around 5PM, &, we awoke her from a nap, she said. This was our introduction to the fact that many New Orleans folks & activities are "nightowls". Our room was clean, & comfortable. The overhead fan helped as the humidity rose. Everything in the room "worked", & the only minor complaint we had was our squeeky bed. Both the upstairs room,&, the downstairs room beds made the same noise. We managed to laugh about it, &, it was no real problem.
The Sun & Moon B&B is in an interesting neighborhood. Next door was a Tattoo shop. Of course I had to check this place out, &, the staff were funny, & the shop appeared very capable. About one & a half blocks to the south is (Louis) Armstrong Park. This city park was a nice place to take a break during the day. Early in the morning however, it had a few local people who were clearly under the influence of ?? drug. (But then, we're in NOLA).
The Sun & Moon's best feature was it's price, &, location. I think we paid about $85 per night, with the 7th night free. (Web special -- and you gotta ask for the discount, Glinda said.) We enjoyed being NOT on Bourbon St. Our B&B was quiet at night. The few blocks from Rampart St. to the River, or other locations in the French Quarter were easily covered in just a few minutes.
The Sun & Moon B&B can be reached at (504) 529-4652, or, (800) 638-9169. Their website can also get you a reservation: www.sunandmoonbnb.com I would go back to this B&B on another trip to NOLA.
