An excellent... (Reply to this comment)

...history lesson, Howard! With your guidance, a visit to this enticing area should be most rewarding. But, five hours for doughnuts? They must be something special!

informative review you have written.
It's so funny, I know many cities in the US by the varied mental health centers and hospitals that are located in them (I survey them for CMHS). It's nice to learn actual facts about them - but I must say as you mentioned some places, my mind wandered the centers I know so well.
awesome job!!

Sorry For The MH Rating... (Reply to this comment)
by the_gas_man
Hi Howard,
I read the review through to the end and couldn't find one mention about where the best place would be to stop for a haircut. In light of this oversight, I think an MH rating is about all I can give it.
If you decide to update this review, with the best place to get a haircut, let me know, I be happy to come back and re-rate it. I guess the next highest rating would make it Off Topic.
You sure packed a ton of information into this one, everything but the barber shops and the kitchen sink. Nachitoches (pronounced “KNACK-uh-dish”) sounds good enough to eat.
I enjoyed this one, as you obviously enjoyed writing about it.
Regards,
Gasman

Are you just naturally intelligent about history or do you read several books and paraphrase? :-)

on this wonderful tour of places I've heard about but have never been to. I'll pass on the Zwolle, but I'd love a Barq's Grape soda on a hot day.
Nice writing as always, Howard.

Great Review As Usual (Reply to this comment)

DeQuincy just had their railroad days and starting the first of May Contraband days start, that is supposed to celebrate the legend of Jean Lafetite.
I am so glad someone brought up those small towns between Shreveport and Lake Charles. They are so often forgotten even though they have a rich colorful history.
