I decline to rate this review because of its age and it is a very helpful one for the Boston Public Botanical Gardens. This product page is for the entire city of Boston and dedicating a review to a single business or attraction doesn't seem appropriate. Unfortunately, at the time you posted it, Epinions didn't have Category Leads so you could have a product page for the gardens added. If I rated, I would use today's standards, which would make it OT.

I lived on Beacon Hill for 4 years in the early 1990's, then returned to my native NJ. Having once told my boyfriend that the Public Gardens was my favorite place in the world, he proposed there in August 2002. Your review brought back a lot of great memories for me - thanks!

The Boston Common is the oldest public park in the world (1634) The Public Garden is 200 years newer (1837).

When the weather turns wintery after being springish here in Indiana, we just blame it on basketball, because something like this usually happens during tournament time!

Your park sounds really beautiful and soothing--especially, the swan boats! :o)

Bambi Reflects On "Twitrapation" (Reply to this comment)

You've awakened my "deciduous tree-loving" soul with this living, breathing, 3-dimensional floral landscape; I'm there! Before I print this out for purposes of gluing onto my office windows (for a much-improved view,) I'm going to make two, relatively minor alterations (with your blessing:) 1) Omit the final paragraph (which was for me, the verbal equivalent of being awoken from a dream in which I had been floating on a raft at the mouth of a turquoise lagoon leading into a Caribbean island, by someone pouring an ice cream milkshake onto my exposed midriff, to awaken me from a badly-needed nap, to warn me of a sudden blizzard which has dramatically lowered the odds of my safely returning from my Siberian "survival mission" camping trip (don't YOU always take ice cream shakes on your survival missions?,) and 2) add the smell of the still -chartreuse "late Spring" lawn-grass just after it has been mowed. Is this acceptable? --lol

I am very sorry but I have never particiapted in a write-off because I don't feel comfortable being forced to write when I don't want to. I write only when I want to and feel up to it. please accept my apology. Thank you for asking though.

PS) I really don't quite understand what this about either. Did someone steal one of your reviews?

...to read an affectionate portrait of a region written by one of its own. I always look for that little bit of honest pride to show through, as you display here. Good work!

Oh yea? Ask them how Julie is doing in waitressing...she is my niece.

I love the sports memorabilia in that place. What pest control does your friend own? Carver is a hop skip and jump away from me, actually 10 miles.

I only use one good pest control and that is in Bridgewater. See the review I wrote when I first joined Epinions about the awful time I had with terminex.

Unpredictable New England! (Reply to this comment)
by mom2girlz
I am also a New Englander-MA to be exact! I have been a resident for about a year so I'm not familiar with all the attractions that this state has to offer. Your descriptive review of the Boston Gardens has made it seem like a very beautiful place to visit! Once this snow stops falling (will it EVER?!) I think I may take a trip out to Boston to visit what sounds like a breathtaking place.

Thanks for a useful review! :-)

I believe the Boston public Gardens opened in the mid 1800's. I was told it was the oldest garden. Thanks for your comment.

...a bit late too - had snow yesterday. But there
is hope since the daffodils are out and the trees
are beginning to get fat buds. Enjoyed your review, but I was very surprised at the idea that
the these gardens are the oldest in the world. What date did they open?

... with a human touch.
You should be here in Seattle. By mid-March the cherry & plum trees are already blooming, the crocus are almost done, the daff's and hyacinths are hitting their stride, and leaves are appearing on the trees.

Ken
