Review Topic: Sights & AttractionsReview Topic: Sights & AttractionsI visited Boston late this past summer. I had a great time! One of the things loved the most was the Duck Tours. It was so fun! I recommend you try this out if you are going to be in the Boston area.
What are the Duck Tours?
The Duck tour is an interactive ride/ tour through the streets of Boston and into the harbor. Yes you actually go into the harbor. You ride on old military vehicles that go in the water and on land. AND you can actually drive the boat!! It was so much fun. I got a sticker that says, " I drove a duck"
What is so special about this tour?
It’s interactive, plain and simple. You just don’t sit in the bus while the person talks to you and look at everything. On the duck tours your tour guide is in costume and theme. Our tour guide was the hippie. He dressed in costume along with the other tour guides. Some were generals, boat captains. Our tour guide actually talked with the people on the street. He made fun of the cars that cut him off. Not only to us but also on the loud speaker so everyone on the block could hear. It was really funny.
Another great thing was the quacking!!! Since the name of the tours is the "duck tours" people on the street quack as the boat/vehicle goes by. So what do you do along with 20 other people in your vehicle, you quack back!!! You also have quacking wars with the other tour vehicles. Each tour guide has a quack to go along with the theme.
During my tour we got stuck in traffic and caused a traffic jam. We quacked the entire way through the traffic jam just to get on people’s nerves!!! It was great!
Tips, cost, time:
I believe the cost of each tickets was around $30. They do have senior, children and student discounts. But in order to actually get a ticket you must arrive a day before you plan to go!!! They sell quickly! My sister lives in Boston but was unable to get us tickets. She said to s that you are able to purchase tickets before that day but we called and they said no. When we got to the ticket booth early in the morning they were sold out for that day and the next. Lesson learned , don’t trust the people on the phone!!!! Try to go during the summer early fall. It gets cold and although you can still go in the rain and cold I wouldn’t want to!!
When you do get tickets arrive earlier than the time they tell you too!!!!! The seats are on a first come order. So if you want to sit outside in the back ( the poop deck ) you gotta arrive really early.
If you are interested in going to the duck tours they have a web site! I’m not too sure what it is but you can probably get it by searching. If you have problems drop me a comment and I’ll post the number for you!!
Hope you have a great time !
