Find Some Magic at "Casino Magic" in Bay St. Louis, MS!

Written: Mar 04 '02
Pros:A great resort to get away from it all for a few days or week!
Cons:Mosquitoes and the heat in the summer!
The Bottom Line: This is a great place to spend a relaxing weekend with lots to do in one complex!

Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi is not just a casino! It is a small resort hosting the casino, a hotel, a golf course and a campground! What more could you ask for when looking for a place to get away from it all for a few days??

Casino Magic is located in Bay St. Louis, MS on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It is located just minutes off of Interstate I-10 on Casino Magic Drive. As you drive into the resort you will notice the tranquil atmosphere. There are palm trees everywhere and you will swear you are in the nearby state of Florida or a tropical isle! Let's get on with the tour, there are lots of things to do and see at Casino Magic.

Bay St. Louis

Bay St. Louis is a small, rustic town that is now a favorite place for people seeking retirement. The historical district is now known as the "Old Town" which still has many quaint, small shops, antique stores, art galleries. It is a very peaceful town. You will see why it is so relaxing here!

The Casino Itself

I always say, once you have seen one, you have seen them all, right? Well Casino Magic has always been one of my favorite casinos to visit. I usually go with my cousins who live close and it provides a little entertainment for the adults to get away from the kids for an evening out. The casino has over 1,000 slot machines (which happens to be my favorite), blackjack, Let It Ride, Craps, Roulette, Mini Baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, Live Million Dollar Keno, Three Card Poker, and Caribbean Stud. They also have a Magic Money Players Club where you use your membership card when gambling to earn points which can be redeemed for cash and/or prizes. Your card also entitles you to discounts on merchandise throughout the casino. The gift shop contains some unique items, although a bit pricey. The casino has always been clean on all of my visits and the staff are super friendly. The waitresses in the casino are very attentive. Be sure and tip them if you are making multiple requests!

Live Entertainment

While not the magnitude of a "Vegas" show, Casino Magic brings great live entertainment in the form of concerts and shows. They host free shows in the lobby as well as first class entertainment requiring a ticket purchase. Casino Magic brings in many top country music artists from nearby Nashville. Casino Magic was named the "Casino of the Year" in 1999 and 2000 by the Academy of Country Music.

If you are not in the groove of music shows, you may be in for a treat, Casino Magic also hosts many boxing events! They currently host more boxing events than any other casino.

First Class Dining or Casual...They Have it All!

Casino Magic has four choices of restaurants for you and one will surely strike your mood! If you are starving and want a variety of good food for a great price, try the buffet at Abracadabra's Phenomenal Buffet and you will see why they call it "Phenomenal". The buffet serves everything from prime rib to seafood to Chinese specialties. You will find a full salad bar, dessert bar as well and will not leave with any hunger pains! The last time I ate there the lunch buffet was a mere $7.95 and dinner buffets $10.95 - $12.95. This is my personal favorite choice.

The Amazing Randolph's is your formal dining restaurant and an excellent choice for a quiet evening meal. You will satisfy your craving for a great steak here or fresh seafood straight from the Gulf.

The Bridges Clubhouse Grill and Cafe Magic are your choices for food if you do not have a lot of time and want to get back to the tables. Both have excellent food and are usually less crowded than the buffet.

The Hotel

The rooms at the hotel have been recently remodeled and first class accommodations. The hotel has a heated pool for your enjoyment during the winter months. Since I have not stayed overnight here, I can't elaborate on the rooms. I can say that the entire complex is very well maintained and the staff very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here.

The Campground

Ok, this is one of the cleanest and well maintained campgrounds I've ever seen. We drove through the campground on our last visit to my aunts in Mississippi to see the accommodations. It is a very nice campground! It is well shaded, with oak, pine and palm trees. The park offers both 30 and 50 amp hookups with cement pads for RV's and travel trailers. Each spot had their own BQ grill also, not just a fire-ring! I didn't see anyone camping in tents here but I'm sure it is available as in most campgrounds. There is a very nice picnic pavillion available for picnics if you want to have a family gathering or a day outing. If you are into fishing, the campground is located on a canal that leads to the Gulf of Mexico so when you are tired of the casino, (or broke) you can try your luck fishing! This park is pet friendly (on a leash, of course). The staff in the office were very friendly. Rates quoted in 2001 were around $25.00 per night.

The Bridges Golf Resort

The Bridges Golf Resort is one of the finest golf courses in the South! It is an Arnold Palmer 18-hole championship designed course. The course features 21 wooden bridges that wind through wetlands and fairways. The resort has an 11 acre practice facility with 2 chipping greens and 2 putting greens in addition to the full course. The facility also has a state of the art lighting system for those seeking the ultimate challenge after dark. This course looks challenging!

Casino Magic is a first class casino and resort and you will find lots of other things to do here other than just gamble in the casino. For a change of pace in the afternoon you can go down to the beach and take a dip in the cool, Gulf waters. You will find yourself getting used to this quiet and relaxed atmosphere in Bay St. Louis. Hey, you may even want to consider it a future home when you retire!
