Pros: Silver Dollar City, inexpensive hotels, lots of attractions for all ages
Cons: traffic, long waits at some restaurants
The Bottom Line: I recommend Branson to anyone wanting a wide variety of attractions for the entire family as long as they can tolerate the traffic.

| traywilson's Full Review: Branson |
I have read most of the reviews and agree with most...Branson is a common sense town. It was not 'designed' but evolved into the monster it is. My wife and family have been about 10 times starting in 1985. For starters - stay away from Branson during holiday weekends. We find the very best time of year is late Sept. or October when the weather is more comfortable, the trees are turning, and there are fewer people in general.
When getting a hotel DON'T reserve in advance. There are ALWAYS rooms in nearly every place - from $29 to $129 and if you arrive late in the evening they will sometimes give you a better rate because a reduced rate is still better to them than an empty room. This way you can look at the facility prior to plunking down your $$ too and avoid having to gripe and moan about it on forums like this. Try to get a room that includes a hearty breakfast too and this will save you some money and get you going quicker in the am. Hotels off 76 Blvd. are easier to get to and from , naturally.
As for food - I haven't eaten everywhere, but any my personal favorites would be Lambert's cafe (15 miles north), Sadies Sideboard (on 76 Blvd. across form the Pressley's Theatre), and Cracker Barrel (far end of the strip). Again, the key to eating is to avoid the "normal" times, especially if dining at Lambert's as the wait is over an hour at lunch and supper.
My family isn't really into the shows as they are mostly geared toward the 55 and over crowds but Shoji Tabuchi and Yakovv both do a good set - just be preparred to pay. Also check out the Grand Place as they atrract a lot of current country stars. Most hotels can offer discount coupons or tickets to most show - just ask! Also watch Ebay, as many times you will find tickets and other offers there. We do enjoy The Ducks (amphibious trucks that do a scenic tour of the lake), Shepherd of the Hills' nightime play, and of course Silver Dollar City. If you do Branson but skip SDC you are shorting yourself bigtime! There is something for everyone - from great rides, to homespun crafts, terrific foods and homemade candies, the Marvel Cave tour, shopping, and on & on.
I hope this review has helped. Keep in mind most of the workers are locals so ask them what is good to do or where to eat, as they will be glad to assist.
