Pros: Lots of things to do, not full of bars and strip clubs.
Cons: Senior citizen central, twangy country music
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a somewhat clean and fun vacation, it's the place to go to watch some amazing things and eat some great food.

| shareesulli's Full Review: Branson |
I spent much of my life living only 70 miles from this tourist site. My family would always find excuses to go to Branson, sometimes as often as once a month, and always a few times during the summer. It was nice living so close to a widely known tourist attraction, and at the same time a bit difficult.
Attractions
Branson is one of the centers of a big phenomenon that i never understood or liked remotely- country music. There are theaters all over the somewhat small city boasting some very talented country music singers, and slapstick comedy acts. There are also some very impressive magic shows, a commendable wax museum, and various places to ride the rides-- or more famously for the city, "Ride The Ducks."
One of the most famous attractions and reasons for people to go to this remote part of Missouri, is the famous theme park Silver Dollar City. Not only a place with impressive rides to speak of, but also cute little signature shops and shows as well. It is not only a theme park for the young and spry, many a senior citizen venture here to shop in the original shops, or watch various shows, plays, and comedy bits. The food here is also something not to be forgotten, you can smell the delicious barbecue all throughout the park.
Family Oriented
Unlike lots of cities centered around tourism, this town is basically centered around the family. Most if not all of the cities most famous attractions are family friendly, you don't have to worry about taking your children to a vulgar show. Most of the comedies are focused on audiences of all ages, so your children can laugh at your side.
Relatively Cheap
No one can expect a family vacation going to shows and staying in hotels to not break the bank, but going to Branson will help. Unlike many cities, it is easy to find better quality hotels for cheap, and deals and coupons for shows and restaurants from their hotel choice. There are often good discounts, and cheaper rates for kids at the restaurants and everywhere else.
Not exactly perfect...
Some people around my age can become a bit tired of the atmosphere and traffic. There are always tour buses and mini vans clogging the streets, especially if you go at the towns peak in the summer. A few other cons are all of the main things to do and sites are packed onto the strip, and the rest of the city is somewhat normal. I'm not one to bash older people, but it is a bit of a downer when you see yourself as one of the few people above 7 and below 60 years of age for miles. Also, it can get a bit annoying if country music is not your forte, because you will be hard pressed to hear anything else.
Over all Branson is a good place to go on a short vacation, preferably in the summer or around the winter holidays, because the town can be quite dead at some of the other times. When I'm older and have a few children I know I'll be taking us there to watch some slapstick and eat some fried buffet food and Ride the Ducks.
