| Alena's Full Review: Branson |
I have been to branson several times a year, for the last four or five years and I continue to enjoy it. I buy a season pass to silver dollar city which is a highlight of Branson. I always enjoy the crafts and the shows that I can see at Silver Dollar city. They have several festivals each year including their famous Christmas Festival.
I also enjoy shopping in Branson, they have three outlet malls, which makes for some major shopping time. You do have to be careful when going to the malls because sometimes the outlet mall price is not lower than a regular store price.
I have only seen one show in Branson, Jim Stafford, and it is funny, I've seen it a couple of times. He is good for all ages. It is a very clean show, good for families.
Branson has some good, good restaurants. I recommend Shorty Smalls or Mcguffeys. They also have an Olive Garden, if Italian is what you crave. If you are not going to attend an evening show then I suggest that you eat dinner after 8, it will be less busy because most other people will be at a show.
The traffic is bad. You can get maps of alternate routes (back roads) at most hotels and the malls that will cut your in traffic waiting time in half. You can also pick up a coupon booklet at most hotels and the malls. The booklet contains coupons for free fudge, % off at stores and meal deals.
If you want a good hotel then you need to make a reservation a month or more in advance. I suggest the Best Western: Knights INN. It has a good location in town, the price is reasonable, and they have an indoor swimming pool, and a free continental breakfast.
There is no bad time of year to go. We go all year except from Dec.-March, because we don't want to get snowed in. I will take my first trip there this year in early May with my best friend and then I will go again later in May with my family. It is a good place to take a family or for a couple. The road to get there is curvy and not so easy to drive, but Branson is worth the trip, several times over.
