Pros: Absolutely beautiful, clean, definitely worth the trip
Cons: You should bring mega-bucks in order to fully enjoy it all
The Bottom Line: It's beautiful and there's so much to see. It's a great experience and somewhere you want to go more than once in your lifetime and just be spoiled for awhile.

| goaskalice79's Full Review: The Strip |
When a friend invited me to go to Las Vegas with her I agreed but wasn't too excited. It had never interested me before. But I was very surprised to find the city so pretty and so clean! I'm from New Orleans and tourists and locals both just trash this city and no one appears to care. Possibly because down here we are allowed to walk in the streets with alcohol where in Las Vegas this was against the law. (but prostitution is legal...) So The Strip...The Strip is the main stretch of road in Las Vegas with the bigger hotel/casinos. Each hotel was different and most were extremely nice. I was pretty surprised at how nice the employees were as well (coming from new orleans where the service people are usually rude...maybe it's the smell of hot garbage rotting in the streets, or maybe the employess were up late the night before walking around bourbon street with hurricanes in their hands...for whatever reason, service here pretty much sucks...but I digress...) Ok, since the main point of the strip are the hotel/casinos I'll tell you about them.
1. Luxor - from the outside-beautiful. This huge black pyramid is in nearly every picture of Vegas you see. There are lights that go down the entire side of the hotel that make it visible at night, otherwise it would be invisible. But inside (although it was very nice) it was very dark.
2. Excalibur - we actually stayed here one night and I loved it. Our room that night was a little over 40 bucks! So cheap! there was a medieval theme, the hotel was built to look like a huge castle. Little touches inside made this medieval theme even better, like hands holding torches on the walls and medieval tapestries. The casino had wizards and dragons thrown here and there. It was just cute. But it could have been better. But the price was wonderful for such a nice hotel.
3. New York - New York - very nice; of course had the whole new york theme going on. Very expensive though, but worth your money
4. Aladdin - of course had the whole desert theme going on. Not too expensive but not exactly really nice either.
5. Boardwalk - cute but looks a little trashier than the others. there is an awesome roller coaster attached to the hotel. Pricier only because it doesn't look as nice as the rest from the outside and is a lot smaller in the inside.
6. Paris - had a great Eiffel tower built inside the hotel. the ceilings inside were painted to look like the sky and the towers legs were in the middle of the casino. verrry nice inside and pretty pricy.
7. Bally's - I was not that impressed with Bally's but we have one down here in New Orleans so it was by no fault of Bally's. Very neon and they have a lot of mardi gras stuff inside, i guess because they built one down here.
8. Bellagio - beautiful. but verrry expensive. the most expensive hotel on the strip. from the outside it looks just like the mirage but the inside is just fancy and prettiness everywhere. huge glass flowers hung from the ceiling and there had been a huge cornucopia built for the holidays coming up. very rich atmosphere
9. Caesars Palace - definitely my favorite. the roman theme was throughout the hotel. TOO cute. The waitresses were dressed in roman clothing, caesar was walking around. absolutely huge and easy to get lost in. there was a mall inside, an FAO Schwarz and many other stores. If you see no other hotel, you should see this one. The artwork inside was fabulous. the statues, paintings, columns, etc...just great. check it out!
10. The Venetian - HUGE, very very pretty. had a river throughout it with men and women controlling gondolas you could pay to ride on. had a mall inside of it.
11. The Mirage - Very nice. The pool area is what made this hotel great. Cabanas and palm trees. Waterfalls and bartenders waiting for you. Sigfried and Roy have their jungle here and their tiger lives here. There is also a dolphin tank. There's a little mall inside; a few shops. There is a restaurant with some original Monet on the walls
That was something that surprised me very much. The amount of artwork that was on display in Las Vegas. I never knew there were so many galleries in these hotels. The Faberge exhibit was going on when we were there. There are many "serious" art collector stores here as well.
There are shows EVERYWHERE. You can get free tickets to any of them if you try hard enough. You really should catch at least one while you are there.
In between these hotels are many little cheap souvenir shops which come in handy...but walk around in them before you buy anything. Some of these places have like, 20 postcards for a dollar or5 keychains for a dollar and at the next one you see the same keychain for 2.99. so shop around. And check out the 4 story M&M store! There is way too much to see in 2 days!
