| SmockingRoom's Full Review: The Strip |
I have been to Las Vegas, and particularly, the strip on several occasions at different times of the year. What I enjoy most is playing poker. Poker is a superior game because there is no "house edge". All players have equal opportunity and compete with each other. The house takes a small "rake" out of every pot. I prefer THE MIRAGE poker room, because it is always open and have never had to wait an interminable time to get a seat. At other casinos, I have had to wait--until there are enough players to form a table. This has never been the case at the Mirage. True, I have waited to get a seat because the room was full, but that is not as long a wait as when there are not enough players. At some of the casinos--I have noticed that every player is a "local" and even the dealers know them all by name. This is not good, because you will be playing against so many players who know how the others play--and believe me, you do not want to be the only "outsider" at a high or even moderate stakes poker table. The choice of games and limits is also very attractive at the Mirage. You can play TEXAS HOLD 'E, SEVEN CARD STUD(STRAIGHT AND HI-LOW), OMAHA, etc. The clear advantage over house games is not only more lucrative, but also eliminates much of the luck factor. As a matter of opinion, if you can play well, and take advantage of the suckers who think there is much more "luck" in poker and not much skill--you can earn big bucks. Keep in mind, that the clear advantage is with the sane, logical, and thoughtful player. IF THAT IS NOT ENOUGH, EVEN DAVID SKLANSKY PLAYS AT THE MIRAGE.
