My family stayed at the Silver Legacy in Reno one weekend in late March '99. The price was right at $30/night, but that was a special promo deal at the time.
S.L. is one of Reno's newest and nicest hotel/casinos; it opened '95 sometime, I think, and everything still feels fresh. The hotel part is nicely separated from the restaurant/casino areas, and the decor is one of the *least* cheesy ones in town, with a pseudo-frontier look. There are walkways to two other casino/hotels, but good luck finding any of them, because casinos are notorious for making it difficult to find one's way outside. S.L. is no different when it comes to that.
S.L. has a distinctive look on the outside, with a dome that houses the casino and a tower that houses the rooms. That makes the S.L. easy to find amid the glitter when/if you find yourself lost walking around downtown.
Customer service is friendly enough; it's certainly prompt and courteous. That's not necessarily the case at nearby places -- but that's a different story and a different review. Silver Legacy's food quality ranks on the high end among Reno's offerings, and the variety is quite good.
All in all, not a bad place for a lazy weekend.
