| jasinda20's Full Review: Times Square |
Let's Disregard the fact that I am a fellow New Yorker (so that you don't think I am playing favorites) Times Square, located in 42nd street is the best place in the world. Sure I have lived in NY all my life (21 yrs to be exact) and had plenty of opportunity to visit every part (approximately a million times) I make it a point to visit Times Square whenever I get the chance.
It seems like everything you can think of is located right in Times Square. If you want to watch a movie, eat, sight see or visit Carson Daley at MTV live. There is always something to do.
But besides the many things that everyone can do while they are there the people there aren't so bad either. I just thought I would mention that because of the stereotype of "All New Yorkers are rude, crude and have an attitude," which is not true at all. The one thing that I appreciate more are the different kind of people from different cultures and countries that I come in contact with while I am there, whether I am buying a burger at a near by Mc Donald's or having a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
Now for the expensive part: Well to tell you the truth it can be quite pricey, especially if you want to do everything Times Square has to offer. But speaking realistically there is no way you can have the full effect of Times Square all in one day so you won’t have to worry about spending a million dollars (okay not that much) all at once. If you are visiting I recommend staying with a friend or family member you can save a lot more money that way. The hotel and motels are a little on the expensive side. If you have not choice but to stay motel are cheaper than hotels and you can actually find a room at a affordable price of $60.00 a day.
Traveling within Times Square: Instead of paying for taxi's that can charge about $3.00 as soon as you sit in I suggest purchasing a metro card (a card that you can use on public transportation instead of cash.) Not only is it safe instead of cash but easy and affordable to use.
Whenever I get the chance to go to Times Square I make it a point to go to 47th street to watch the newest horror flick at Virgin Sony theaters and eat at an Italian restaurant called Sbarros (I love Pizza.)
During the evening I hop on the number four train using my metro card and travel about ten to fifteen minutes out of Times Square (not during rush hour) to my favorite park located in Greenwich Village. It’s called Washington Square Park. It’s a place where people of all ages go and hangout (especially NYU college students.) Most of the time, around 9’ 0 clock at night a group of homeless men put on a comedy show to earn a dollar or two from their audience. As weird at it may sound Washington Square Park is somewhere I relax, have fun and hangout with my friends
