I could distinctly, hear the throbbing sounds of a DJ as I was descending the stairs. "Could a dance club possibly be in this very classy joint?", I laughingly asked myself. Was that Juvenile I hear?... "You a big fine woman,....won't you back dat a@# up..." WHAT? Hip-Hop here, at La Maganette?, New York's premier elegant Italian eatery? Yes, La Maganette is a study in contrasts. Downstairs at La Maganette, there's an eclectic atmosphere as the DJ spins Hip-Hop, Reggea, Latin, and Pop. The crowd at La Maganette is VERY diverse, age wise and race wise. Young and old, Black, White, yellow, red, purple, and green dance and mingle together. I also noticed alot of politicians enjoying themselves... And the DJ is BANGING the best hip-hop mixes I have ever heard anywhere. After a hard days work, New York's cosmopolitians come to shake their groove thangs under the disco balls of La Maganette. Did I say disco balls? Yes, I did. La Maganette's club "downstairs" looks like a scene straight out of Saturday Night Fever. Strobbing lights, silver disco balls, and lasers! Needless to say I finally took off my jacket and did the rump shaker all night long. I had a great time. La Maganette is located at 50th Street and 3rd Ave in Manhattan. The club downstairs closes at 12 midnight. There is a $5.00 admission charge for the club. FREE admission for the restaurant upstairs. Appetizers range from $7.00-$21.00. There is a FREE buffet (downstairs) if you get there before 5pm. La Maganette is a great place to take a date for fun night out.
