Lake George is a 32 mile long lake featured in upstate New York. Are you sick of working long hours and getting stuck in the mile long traffic jams? Get your family, jump in your car and head to upstate New York. This picturesque countryside is just being discovered by tourist and vacationers. One great place in upstate New York, is obviously Lake George.
As I said before Lake George is 35 miles long and has plenty of things to offer. Lake George is stationed only 3 1/2 hours from New York City and 3 1/2 hours from Montreal, Canada. Trust me the trip is well worth the time. The North end is situated in the heart of the Adirondacks while the South is just teeming with people and things to do. There are so many things to do at Lake George. Some things you can do is fish, swim, boat, bike, shop, go to Great Escape Splashwater Kingdom and just hang around.
Lake George is the perfect place for fishing. Offering 35 miles of fishing is one huge bonus for fishing here. You never have to compete with another person who is intruding in on your fishing spot. There is so many fish you never have to worry about not catching something, that is unless you are a cursed fisher. If you need a marina to store your fishing boat there is Dunham's Bay Docks & Launch. This marina is stationed in Lake George, NY and offers plenty of space. This place is also a great place to put your recreational boat, which ever one you have. Going boating on this lake is just wonderful. Strap on your skis and prepare for the ride of you life. Trek half way across the lake and back. Try tubing or wakeboarding because the Lake is huge and you will never have any problem with other boats.
Well if you go up to Lake George you will most likely want to stay for the weekend or even for the night. That means you will need some lodging. In Lake George there is a Best Western, (800) 234-0265. There is also Fort William Henry Resort Hotel and Conference Center, (800) 234-0267. One last place I know of is the Travelodge, (800) 234-0586.
You will have to be careful about your lodging strategy because in the summertime these hotels and motels are packed. If that is the case check for places to stay in surrounding towns like Warrensburg, Glens Falls or Lake Luzerne. These places also offer great lodging places and many other things.
The shopping around the Lake is surprising. There is so many places to shop. I found this very startling because I didn't think vacationers had reached here but, boy, was I wrong. It seems like everyone from New York City comes here every weekend. Well any ways, there are plenty of places to shop. For example there is Adirondack Mountain Club, where you can buy camping things, fleeces, and any other outdoors supplies. There is also Lake George Factory Outlet Malls. There are over 13 stores in this complex, among them being The Gap, Levis, Polo Ralph Lauren and 9 West.
The Great Escape Splashwater Kingdom is a huge amusement park. This amusement park features 125 rides and plenty of fun. Enjoy a full day of fun with your family, so set one day aside for this great amusement park. Some new attractions at Great Escape Splashwater Kingdom are Nightmare At Crack Axle Canyon, Go-Kart Track, and Fright Fest. The Nightmare At Crack Axle Canyon is "A monstrous, six-story, 16,000-square-foot coaster that sends riders plunging, soaring, twisting and turning through the darkness of a lost mine. Nothing compares to the thrill of a coaster in the dark." The Go-Kart Track is "Single and double NASCAR-style cars themed for different NASCAR drivers. Race around a 1200-square-foot track with wicked twists and turns! Additional fee required." Last the Fright Fest is "Spend the evening with witches, goblins and ghouls every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night in October. You'll mingle with the living-dead. Join in the wicked-good fun and enjoy our daytime trick-or-treat trail, haunted house and more."
I quoted the amusement park's site since there is no other way you can describe those rides.

Since your days are going to be full of fun you might as well have a full stomach too. Around Lake George you will find many great places to eat. In Lake George, NY there is Barnsider BBQ Restaurant, Contessa Restaurant on the Lake and Surfside on the Lake. All three of these places offer great meals and are more of fancy dining. So bring enough money to dine at these places.
For you history buffs there is the Fort William Henry Historic Museum. This museum is from the French and Indian War, so if you are going to be studying this you should definitely visit this place. If you are lucky you might be able to see some reenactments. You will also learn a lot from the museum and reenactments.
