CHARLESTON, Through the eyes of a Yank

Pros: It's a very confined city and easily navigated.
Cons: From what I hear it can get hot, very very hot.

I'm planning on being there this May, and I will print this review for sure.

I'll be looking for a cheaper hotel though LOL

Glad you enjoyed this beautiful old city Phil. Thanks for the kind mention in the review. I will be looking forward to your thoughts on Charleston Place! A nice glimpse of the epicenter of the Low Country. Tom Barnes

Hey Deborah,

Charleston's Historic Center is wonderful. The Charleston Place is an Orient Express property. It was first class all the way! I know you would like the place.

There is Rockville Center, Baldwin and then Freeport. All are on the south shore minutes from each other.

I'm about two miles or three minutes away with traffic.

Thanks for the comments.

And that too is really nice. So glad the two of you enjoyed your stay. I am coming your way this weekend. Yes, heading to the big apple, again. I will be in Rockville Center on Sunday for a baby shower......with no time to spare. Darn It! How far is that from Freeport?

Best,
Deborah~

Hey Drew,

I have a review of Fort Sumter on the drawing boards. One line that you'll see in it will be. "We gotta get a faster boat"

It was too much time in travel and not near enough at the fort. I still enjoyed it though.

Ever since my visit to Gettysburg I have been fascinated with the Civil War.

Thanks for stopping by,

Phil

We went to charleston 3-4 years ago. We visited Magnolia Gardens and also Fort Sumter (I've a big intersest in the Civil War).
I felt a little rushed by the time allotted on the actual fort, but it was very interesting.

We were there in late August - it was HOT!

I do recommend this one Barbara. It really was fun. I really do suggest a place in the city center historic area. The shops and dining opportunities are all very close by.

I really think you would like the restaurant Mistral. You do like French cuisine, don't you?

I have a review of it all set to go. I'm just waiting for it to be entered into the data base.

Also, look into the Charleston Place. They do have some very good prices at times. We stayed three nights at $189. We moved on when weekend prices brought it up to $259. The place is magnificent. And the pool and jacuzzi are wonderful!

I should have mentioned in the review that anyone visiting the area should at least walk into this hotel and check out the lobby. An after dinner drink at the lounge that is right off the lobby is a good idea. They have a piano player every night.

Actually I should be reviewing the hotel within the next week or so. I'll mention it there.

Have a great time where ever you go.

Phil

You have to just pack your bags and do it.

My wife and I will take any time away that we can. We have taken three weeks and have also had three day weekends and have a good time with that too.

Any time away is good time!! Treat yourself.
