Review Topic: Accommodations
I must tell you first that Myrtle Beach is a truly beautiful place to visit. We had planned our vacation to this area for about a year. We wanted to take our family of four and stay in a nice resort that was right on the beautiful sandy beach. We did quite a bit of research over the internet looking for places to stay, we also sent e-mail to every resort in the area asking for room rates, maps and location of their resorts. We sorted through about 30 different brochures that we received from the various resorts on the beach. We finally narrowed our choice down to 3 resorts and off I went to the travel agent to check the ratings and see what kind of prices the travel agent could get us on a 2 bedroom condo at each of the resorts. We were concerned with price most of all, but wanted to have something really nice for our family to enjoy. The travel agent recommended the Myrtle Beach Resort, it was highly rated for families and was definitely in our price range. She called and reserved for us a 2 bedroom condo, with an oceanview for 4 nights. We were very excited and couldn't wait to arrive.
We Arrive
Upon on arrival at the Myrtle Beach Resort, we were greeted by a security gate that is operational 24 hours a day with a security person stationed at the gate. We were issued an ID tag to hang over our rear view mirror for future entrance into the resort. We were able to check in quickly, we had already paid up front for our room, and were given a map of the property and shown where our condo was located.
The Resort
Myrtle Beach Resort is thirty-three acres of oceanfront playground for you and your family. The resort offers you six swimming pools(two indoors), four whirlpools, three saunas, lighted basketball, shuffleboard and tennis courts. They also have an Arcade area and a wonderful playground area for children. The grounds themselves are well sculptured lagoons and offer some of the best secluded beach areas on Myrtle Beach. The largest pool is oceanside and has an outside pool bar and snack bar area just a short walk on the beautiful boardwalk that surrounds the pool area. They also offer you chairs and umbrellas along the beach for $10.00 a day, you can rent wake boards by the hour for playing in the ocean. We walked around the entire resort and were always aware of security officers in golf carts, walking among the guest and resort employees were very helpful in answering any questions we had.
Our Accommodations
This resort offers several different buildings all with accommodations for you and your family. There is the Renaissance Tower which is a 20 story tower with two elevators where each floor has several condos on it. They have Buildings A & B which are two story apartment like structures, these buildings do not have the best view of the ocean, then their is the Five Seasons where the condos all have a small courtyard with them. Our family stayed in the tower building. Our condo was well decorated and very clean. It had two large bedrooms, one of the bedrooms had a queen size bed and the other had two twin beds. We also had two bathrooms, a large television, couch(that made into another queen bed) and a kitchen that was equipped for cooking. We were blessed with a beautiful view of the ocean from our large balcony with sliding glass doors along the entire side of our condo. We did have to buy groceries, and all paper products that we needed to use. Each floor had a trash chute for you to dispose of your trash easily. The tower and each of the other buildings all offer a laundry on site, a small deli and a mail room that is open during the day for mailing post cards.
Housekeeping
This was not provided for us since we were leasing a condo, their was a vacuum provided for us to use. We did have to make our own beds, keep our towels washed and all general housekeeping duties while we were there. This wasn't a problem as we weren't really in our room much at all during the day. Our bed linens, towels, wash cloths were provided but we did pay extra for this, we chose to do this instead of bringing our own since our trip from Texas was long and we didn't want to have to worry with packing all the sheets and towels we would need for our week long visit.
The tower building itself was always spotless(except for Sand but you are at the beach) and was cleaned each day. The elevators worked great and we found the entire resort to be very clean with no trash on the grounds. Parking was limited but each car did have a place to park, you just might have to walk a little farther than you would like to.
All in all our stay at Myrtle Beach Resort was very enjoyable for our entire family. This is a very family friendly resort that tends to have activities for the entire family. They offer a time each day for crafts for the children up to age 12 and the older children have plenty to do with basketball, arcade games and swimming. At night they have a dance at the beach side bar for all ages, with a small cover charge for anyone under 18 that cannot drink alcohol. They are given arm bands for easy identity by the staff of the bar. Our oldest son who was 17 went to this each night and had a great time meeting people, listening to the band and meeting other kids his age. My husband and I just sat on the beautiful balcony and watched the festivities below.
If you are considering a trip to Myrtle Beach, I would advise you to check out the Myrtle Beach Resort. I would have to say for the price we thought it was a great family resort and we all had a wonderful time there.
Just be ready to sit back, relax and enjoy the sun and sand at the Myrtle Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Be sure and make your reservations early as they do fill up very quickly during the main tourist season. Have Fun!!!
